Cruise past the famous Tunnels Beaches and beneath the dramatic cliffs of the Torrs before arriving at Lee Bay, a peaceful hidden gem nestled between Ilfracombe and Woolacombe. With its rocky cove, expansive rock pools, and small sandy beach at low tide, it perfectly captures the area’s unspoilt natural beauty.
From there, we round Bull Point Lighthouse, first established in 1879 to guide vessels along the rugged Bristol Channel. The current lighthouse was rebuilt in 1974 following cliff collapse and remains fully operational today.
We then head into Rockham Bay, home to a colony of Atlantic grey seals, often seen resting on the rocks or curiously watching from the water.

Continuing past Morte Point and the infamous Morte Stone, a stretch of coastline steeped in shipwreck history, we enter the sweeping sands of Woolacombe Bay, recently recognised as a World Surfing Reserve for its outstanding natural beauty and world-class waves.
Our journey then takes us to Baggy Point, a striking National Trust headland with dramatic cliffs, rolling green slopes, and panoramic views across the Atlantic. Keep an eye out for seabirds along the cliffs and, if you’re lucky, dolphins offshore.
As we return towards Ilfracombe, you’ll take in the coastline from a new perspective, with plenty of opportunities for photos along the way. You’ll also hear fascinating stories about the area, including how Lundy Island was once connected to the mainland before rising sea levels at the end of the last Ice Age transformed it into the island we see today.
What Should I Bring on the Trip?
- Waterproof/Windproof Clothing – no matter the temperature is when we’re on land, it gets chillier out at sea. We recommend that you bring an extra layer!
- Camera or Phone – you will no doubt want to document your trip and ensure you have a record of the wildlife and sights that you see, so we would recommend bringing your phone or camera along. We must note that these are brought on at your own risk as we do not offer cover for any devices damaged or lost on our trips, although thanks to our smooth sailing skipper, this is rarely a problem!
- Sunglasses – not only will the sunglasses protect you from the rays, but if you have polarised lenses it reduces the sun’s reflection which will allow you to see into the water more clearly.
- Sun cream – it is a must! You may not feel the heat when you are zooming along, but we promise, it will still catch you
- But as with all our suggestions (except the sun cream) it is completely your choice!
